Chiropractic Care for the Whole Family, From Infants to Grandparents

The care an infant gets and the care a grandparent gets look nothing alike, and that is exactly the point.

Chiropractic Care for the Whole Family, From Infants to Grandparents

One of the more common things patients mention about our practice is that they bring their whole family, not just themselves. That only works because chiropractic care is not one fixed treatment. It looks different depending on how old the patient is and what their body is actually doing at that stage.

Infants and children

Pediatric care here uses gentle, age-appropriate adjustments, not a smaller version of adult treatment. It is aimed at things that actually come up with kids: frequent ear infections, recurring colic, ongoing respiratory issues, and posture habits that start early. In infancy specifically, care often focuses on supporting the upper cervical spine, which can help with breastfeeding difficulties and digestive discomfort in very young babies.

As kids grow, the concerns shift. Birth trauma and ordinary toddler falls can affect a developing spine and nervous system long before a child can describe what is wrong. Later, it is more likely to be posture worn in from hours bent over a phone or tablet, sometimes called tech neck. Signs worth paying attention to include recurring colic, persistent respiratory issues, poor posture habits, visible spinal misalignment, and trouble sleeping or staying calm. We offer neurological screenings and wellness plans built for infants through adolescents, not one version of care applied at every age.

Pregnancy

Prenatal care is built around a body that changes week to week. As pregnancy progresses, the center of gravity shifts, the pelvis moves, and posture compensates for weight that was not there before. Prenatal treatment focuses on spinal alignment, pelvic adjustments, and preparing the body for labor. It is usually sought out for persistent back pain, hip discomfort, sciatic nerve pain, pelvic misalignment, muscle tension that is affecting daily life, or simply wanting the body in a better position heading into labor.

Adults, including athletes

Adults come in for the most familiar reasons: back pain, headaches, an old injury that never quite healed right, or a sports injury that is slowing them down. Athletes in particular get individualized plans aimed at maintaining performance through a season, since ongoing pain during training, limited joint mobility, and repeated injuries are all signs worth addressing early rather than working around.

Seniors

Senior care shifts the focus again. It is less about a single injury and more about what accumulates over decades: reduced range of motion, arthritis, balance issues, and the kind of stiffness that makes ordinary days harder than they used to be. Treatment plans for older patients focus on pain management, mobility, posture, fall prevention, arthritis relief, spinal alignment, balance, and joint flexibility, tailored to what a person can and wants to keep doing.

  • Persistent back or neck pain.
  • Trouble with daily activities that used to be routine.
  • Reduced range of motion.
  • Frequent headaches.
  • Balance issues or dizziness.
  • Arthritis symptoms.
  • Muscle stiffness or weakness.
  • Sleep disrupted by discomfort.

Massage therapy runs alongside care at every stage

Two of our chiropractic assistants are also licensed massage therapists. Amanda Goodwin specializes in Swedish, deep tissue, and prenatal massage, and Tekoa Brown provides massage therapy across our offices. That prenatal option matters specifically for expectant mothers, since massage and chiropractic care are often used together through a pregnancy rather than one instead of the other, and it is available to any family member whose treatment plan calls for it, not only during pregnancy.

Broader wellness support for adults

Our Germantown office also has a family nurse practitioner, Ashley Gussoni, whose work includes hormone balancing, weight loss, and orthopedic and family practice care alongside regenerative joint health. That sits next to chiropractic treatment rather than replacing it, and it is worth asking about at that office specifically for an adult family member whose needs go beyond spinal care.

Bringing more than one family member in

Because same-day appointments are often available at all three offices, families frequently come in together rather than scheduling separate trips weeks apart. A parent and a child, or an adult and their own parent, can often be seen on the same visit at whichever office is closest, which is part of why the practice sees the same family across more than one generation.

Why one family can see four different doctors

Across our three offices, four chiropractors, Dr. Dave Kellenberger, Dr. Reed Johnson, Dr. Alan Arstikaitis, and Dr. Philip Berardi, bring more than a hundred years of combined experience. That range is exactly what lets a practice see an infant and a grandparent under the same roof and treat them like two different people, because they are.
